God’s Passion for Souls-Part 1.

Key Scripture:

Proverbs 11:30 (KJV)   The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

This sermon helps us understand God’s passion for souls. This passion of God is fulfilled when we become soul winners. Let’s learn the passion of God’s heart so that we too can become wise by winning souls to be added to the Kingdom of God.

 God’s heart is for souls.

Luke 15:1 (KJV) Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him.

The passion of God for souls is seen in Luke 15. Our God is the mission of saving souls and He sent His only begotten son so that no one will perish and that all maybe saved unto eternal life. The crowd that drew around Jesus consisted of sinners, tax collectors and those far away from God. But they liked listening to His life-giving word and Jesus revealed to them the way of life

God’s passion for soul-winning.

Ezekial 18:4 (KJV) Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.

All souls belong to God.

We need to understand that God’s passion for souls begins with the understanding that all the souls belong to Him. All souls are rightfully His but the enemy wants to steal ,kill and destroy. It is not His will that even one of them must be given over to sin and its wages of death.

Ephesians 2:10 (KJV)  For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

We also belong to the Lord and we are to live to fulfil His purpose in our lives.

Isaiah 43:4 (KJV)   Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.

  • All souls are precious to God.

Every soul is precious to God; if it wasn’t true then Christ wouldn’t have set out to save them. God wants all men everywhere to repent. Therefore He calls everyone to take a U-turn from living in the ways of the world unto eternal life.

Acts 17:30 (KJV)   And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

  • God is determined to find the lost.

Once God starts the search, He will bring the lost. He is so determined to find the Lost. That has been the very mission of Christ. (Luke 19:10) that is the purpose of God. He has chosen each one of the souls to be saved. (John 15:16)

Luke 15:6 (KJV)   And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.

  • God’s joy is in finding the lost.

With every soul saved, there is great joy in heaven. It makes the heart of God glad when a sinner repents to become the child of God. Just like how the shepherd who found the lost sheep rejoiced instead of punishing it, the Lord is filled with joy with the repentance of the wayward.

  • God wants to bring souls into His house.

Luke 15:6 (KJV)   And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.

God doesn’t want to just witness sinners saved, He wants to bring them into His House. The house of the Lord is the local church; a place of growth and fellowship. It is in the church that we find restoration happening. Every soul brought into the house of God learns his ways and start living with Him.

How to be a soul winner?

  • Have the heart of a shepherd.
  • Have the determination of a woman.
  • Have the passion of a father.

Our God is the Lord of all the earth and His heart is for souls. The Lord wants us to have the same passion He has towards souls. Only by understanding this passion can we learn o become soul winners. May the Lord grant us this same passion and determination to win souls for Christ.
