God For Us-God Who Works For Our Good.

Key Scripture:

Romans 8:31 (KJV)  “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?”

This sermon on ‘God for Us’ helps us understand how exactly God is working out everything for our good. The Lord works on certain principles and this sermon note helps us learn those principles and evaluate whether we are following the very same.

God working for us!

Romans 8:28 (KJV)  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

In our study of God’s word, we see that God is for us in how He is working for us. The world is filled with so much evil. The majority stands for the wrong. While this could make us retreat from having our faith and hope in Christ, the Bible tells us that God is able to work everything out for our good, even through the evil that the enemy plans. That is why He helps us in our weakness, when we are unable to pray, the Spirit of God helps us by interceding for us according to the will of God. When loud voices claim that God is silent in our pain, openly declare that God is working everything out for our good.

Key truths behind God’s working.

  1. God is in control of every situation we face.

Isaiah 35:4 (KJV) Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you.

God is in control of all things. That can get hard to believe when things that were supposed to go right go wrong. When we get negative reports of finances, health and relationship we wonder when will God come and take over. But we need to always remember that even in the midst of trouble, trauma and depression God reigns and not the enemy. For the suffering saint, the spirit of God is active. He was able to save Shadrach Meshach and Abednego from the fire (Daniel 3:16,17). They strongly believed He could save them, that was their reply to the king when threatened to be thrown into the furnace.

What is our conviction? Will we able to stand up for the Lord in our generation even when things get rough? Let’s be encouraged by the promises of our Lord for He will surely come to save be it fire or flood.

  1. God works in every situation to reveal His glory

Romans 8:18 (KJV) For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

When you are the child of God, His very purpose is to be glorified through your life. We need to remember that everything we go through has been intended to give God the glory. Jesus tells Martha if you believe you will see the glory of God. (John 11:40) If we believe ,our story will end in glory. The tougher the situation the greater the glory!

We cannot compare the glory that awaits us with our present sufferings because of how great it’s going to be.

As long as we are in God’s territory even in the midst of suffering we are bound to see the Lord reveal His glory through our situation.

  1. God works it all for our good.

Luke 18:19 (KJV)   And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.

God knows what we need. We can be sure of that because of all the blessings we have received from Him. We can trust in his goodness even in the darkest of situations. Every closed door is as much as a blessing as every opportunity the Lord has granted in our lives. Thank God for these closed doors because the ultimate good is found in the Lord. The Lord has plans only to prosper us and never to harm us.

  1. God works with those who work with Him.

Ephesians 1:10 (KJV)   That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:

We need to work together with the God who works all things for good. We live in a fallen hurting world. And this world needs us; Our community needs us.

Nothing can change unless we take up the challenge to work together with God. The ultimate aim of god is seen in Ephesians 1:10. For the good of the world we need to be people who love God so as to work together with him to bring about redemption to those around us in Christ Jesus.

2 Corinthians 4:15-17 (KJV)   For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God. For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

Our story never ends in decay or on the predictions of others. We are marching towards glory. God is not quiet; He is working things out for our good. It’s time we start realizing that and work with him as well for his glory to be revealed in this hurting world.
